The Self Coaching MODEL
The secret sauce to all great personal self coaching: “thought inquiry.” It’s exactly what it sounds like. Inquire into your thoughts. Pay attention to your mind.
There are many forms of thought inquiry and cognitive awareness techniques. The most simple and effective one is what is called “The MODEL”. This tool has changed my life and the lives of thousands of people in the world.
There are 5 interconnected components:
- CIRCUMSTANCES = C
- THOUGHTS = T
- FEELINGS = F
- ACTIONS/BEHAVIORS = A
- RESULTS/OUTCOMES
Thoughts about our Circumstances create a Feeling, which drives Actions that produce our Results. We get unintentional results when we have unmanaged thoughts and do not pay attention to our thinking.
Seeing our lives in this context simplifies what is going on so we can understand the cause of the results that are showing up in our lives. This is the ultimate tool that clarifies how cause and effect create our experience.
